ABOUT FRESHWATER

OUR STORY

In 1993, after earning a degree in Pastoral Studies from Moody Bible Institute, I served as the Youth Pastor at Sawyer Highlands Church.

In 2003, my wife Carrie and I  were powerfully moved by the statistic that 70% of Americans have no meaningful relationship with the Church. This started us praying and talking about the possibility of planting a Church in southwest Michigan. A fellow pastor told us about the town of Paw Paw - the town so nice they named it twice!

After a visit to Paw Paw, we fell in love with the community! In October of 2005, along with a small group of faithful believers, we started Freshwater Community Church. A church with hopes to bring refreshment to the souls of those searching for God.  This journey of over 20 years has been a great blessing and our Church is always looking for those seeking to build a relationship with Jesus or to deepen their relationship with Him to join us!

OUR BELIEFS

Freshwater Community Church believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Redeemer of the world. We believe in the complete authority of Scripture as God's written word.

OUR VALUES

OUR DOCTRINE

  • REAL: It's safe to be who you are at Freshwater without fear of judgment or condemnation.

  • RELATIONAL: We are changed through relationships with God, and others, not religious rules.

  • RELEVANT: Our faith should make sense, not only on Sunday, but in our Monday through Saturday lives, too!

  • REACHING: We want to reach others with the hope and good news of Jesus' message, both in our local communities and around the world.

  • REFINING: God changes us; refining each person into his purest form. God loves us where we are, but loves us too much to let us stay there.
